After spending his first month of life in frigid Minnesota temps, Jack decided it was time to get out of Dodge. So the little guy and I packed up and joined Brandon in Tampa last weekend after his work conferenced ended. I wanted to bring Lucy, but the mere thought of flying with both kiddos on my own caused a panic attack. So instead, Miss L got to spend the weekend with Nana and Papa having loads of fun.
Now that I've traveled with a toddler, I have a better appreciation for how easy it is to travel with a newborn in comparison. And Jack made it even easier on me by sleeping almost the entire flight.
We stayed with our dear friends Brooks and Chris and their son, Blaine, who is only about 6 weeks older than Lucy. At first Blaine wasn't so sure about our invasion of his home, especially since we added a noisy little intruder in the mix. Blaine was a great helper, though, and even shared some tummy time with Jack.
The weather wasn't warm enough for the beach, but even temps in the 60s were fabulous for us! Jack hasn't had much outdoor time in his brief life, so spending a few afternoons outside was exhausting for him.
Lucy's museum exposure began at an early age, and it's important to us that Jack enjoy similar experiences. Lucy saw Tate Modern and the National Gallery; Jack visited the World Famous Spongeorama Museum. I'm not sure how to describe this place, so you might want to visit for yourself. Picture displays of paper mache mannequins, maybe missing a limb or two, demonstrating the fascinating--and according to the museum, terribly dangerous--world of sponges. These words and photos really don't do it justice, so you'll have to check it out when you visit Tarpon Springs.
