Lucy Goes to School

Can you believe Lucy is old enough to go to preschool? I can't. (Sniff, sniff.) It's bittersweet to see our little girl gaining independence.

This fall we marked the first of many years of going back to school when Lucy started preschool at Son-Shine Corner. Nana has taught 3-year-olds at SSC since I was young, so it's very special that Lucy gets to go to Nana's school.

On her first day of school, Lucy marched to her classroom with her monkey "pack-ack" looking full of confidence. But that quickly disappeared once she realized she was staying at school without me. The drop-off was a little sad the first couple classes, but now she eagerly looks forward to her Friday mornings with Miss Cori and Miss Sue.

Even though class is only 2.5 hours, I can't wait to pick her up and hear of her adventures. She often tells us how she "sees her friends, Jackson, Dylan and girl named Lilah." I also learned from her teacher that she and a little boy named Koen were recently holding hands.

She also did an impromptu prayer in the car a couple weeks ago. Out of the blue, she announced that she was freezing her hands. She shut her eyes and said, "thank you for our snack, thank you for our juice, and Son-Shine Corner. Amen." I could have melted!

Here are a few photos from her first day:
